Lauki Kofta is very popular North Indian Recipe. It is cooked for lunch or dinner. This recipe is very simple and easy to cook. If your kids don’t like to have Lauki Ki Sabji, you can cook Lauki Kofta for them.

Lauki Kofta Recipe

Ingredients for Making Kofta

  • 1 Cup Lauki (Peeled and Grated)
  • 4 tbsp Besan
  • 1/2 tbsp Red Chili
  • 1 tbsp Garam Masal
  • Salt to Taste
  • Oil to deep fry Koftas

Ingredients for Making Masala

  • 4 Finely Chopped Onion
  • 2 Finely Chopped Tomato
  • 10 Cloves of Garlic
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tbsp Red Chili
  • 1 tbsp Garam Masala
  • 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Finely Chopped Green Chili
  • 2 Cups of Water
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • Salt to Taste

Instructions To Cook Koftas

  1. Peel, wash and grate Lauki. Squeeze out excess water.

  2. Add besan, maida, red chili, garam masala and salt. Mix it well.

  3. Make small balls of 2 inch diameter.

  4. Heat oil in Kadhai or frying pan and deep fry balls.

  5. Drain fried balls on tissue paper to absorb excess oil.

Instructions to Prepare Masala

  1. Heat oil in a pan.

  2. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter. Add ginger garlic paste and stir for 3-4 minutes.

  3. Add onion and stir till it becomes golden brown in color.

  4. Then add finely chopped tomato. Fry for another 5-6 minutes.

  5. After that add all the spices.

  6. Pour 2-3 cups of water to make gravy.

  7. Mix Koftas into the gravy. Your Lauki Kofta is ready to be served hot.

1. No need to add water while preparing mixture as lauki itself contains lots of water.

2. You can add water into the gravy masala according to your choice. If you want thick gravy add only 2 cups of water.
