Potato Cutlet is an evening snack which is very easy to cook for tea time. It is one of the simple cutlets made using potatoes. If your child feels hungry then you can cook it in just a few minutes. It can also be served to the surprised guests as it needs potatoes and spices which are easily available at every home.

  • 5 Potatoes (Medium Sized)
  • 1 Finely Chopped Onion
  • 1 tbsp Basil Powder
  • 1 tbsp Curry Leaves Powder
  • 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds Powder(Jeera Powder)
  • 1 tbsp Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Red Chili
  • 1/2 tbsp Carom Seeds
  • Bread Crumbs
  • Salt to Taste
  • Oil to fry cutlets
  • 1 tbsp Chat Masala


  1. First of boil potatoes then peel them off.

  2. Mash potatoes with masher and mix finely chopped onion. You can also add green peas into the mixture.

  3. Add all the spices to the mixture.

  4. Make oval shaped tikis of this mixture as shown in the picture.  Wrap it into the breadcrumbs. 

  5. Heat some oil in the pan then deep Fry these cutlets. Sprinkle some chat masala on fried cutlets. Serve hot with tomato ketchup and tea.

Recipe Notes

You can also use all purpose flour(Maida) instead of breadcrumbs to wrap potato mixture.
