Whole masoor dal is one of the dal that is generally cooked in each and every Indian Home. It is full of protein and nutrients. You can serve dal with roti, paratha, or rice. Here is a step by step procedure to cook dal.
Whole Masoor Dal (1 Cup)
Onion (One – Finely chopped
Tomato (One – Finely chopped)
Green Chilli (One- Finely chopped)
Garlic (Ten Cloves)
Ginger (Small Piece – Grated)
Cumin Seeds (1 Tablespoon)
Turmeric Powder (1/2 Tablespoon)
Red Chilli Powder (1/2 Tablespoon)
Garam Masala (1 Tablespoon)
Ghee (Two Tablespoon)
Coriander Leaves (9 – 10)
Salt to Taste
How to Cook Whole Masoor Dal
Wash and rinse dal. Add dal into the pressure cooker and pour 3-4 cups of water. Add turmeric powder and salt to taste. Cover the lid. Simmer dal at low to medium flame and wait for 4-5 whistles. Turn off the nob. Wait till the pressure cooker becomes cool. Open the lid, dal should be soft.
Heat ghee in another pan. Add cumin seeds and let the seeds splutter. Add ginger-garlic paste. Then add onion and stir till they become golden brown in color.
Add tomato and fry for another few minutes. Then add all remaining spices except turmeric and salt as we added them while cooking in a pressure cooker.
Stir and fry till ghee leaves the mixture. Add this Masala into the dal.
Pour some water if required according to the consistency of dal.
Garnish dal with some coriander leaves and it is ready to be served hot with roti or rice.
